Terms and rules

Welcome to The Softball Forum. By accessing, registering for, or using this website and its services ("Service"), you agree to these Terms and Rules.

The Softball Forum is an independent online community for softball players, parents and guardians, coaches, officials, teams, organizations, tournament operators, and fans. Unless specifically stated otherwise, The Softball Forum is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any softball association, governing body, league, team, or tournament organization discussed on the Service.

Age Requirement

This Service is only available to users who are at least 13 years old. If you are younger than this, please do not register for or use the Service. By registering, you represent that you meet the minimum age requirement.

User-Generated Content

Posts, messages, reviews, opinions, statistics, scouting information, recommendations, and other content submitted by users represent the views of their respective authors and not necessarily those of The Softball Forum. To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Softball Forum does not assume responsibility for user-generated Content solely because it is submitted, hosted, displayed, or made available through the Service.

You are responsible for the content you submit, upload, link to, or otherwise make available through the Service ("Content") and for any consequences resulting from that Content.

Content may be reviewed by staff members and may be processed by third-party services used for security, spam prevention, moderation, or operation of the Service. Do not submit information that you consider private or confidential.

Respectful Participation

Members are expected to communicate respectfully and constructively. Harassment, threats, bullying, discrimination, personal attacks, deliberately inflammatory behaviour, spam, impersonation, or other abusive conduct may result in content removal, warnings, restrictions, suspension, or termination of an account.

Disagreement about teams, coaches, players, officials, organizations, tournaments, rules, or softball-related decisions is permitted. Criticism should focus on the issue being discussed rather than becoming personal attacks against individuals.

Youth Athletes and Personal Information

Softball includes many athletes who are minors. Members must exercise particular care when discussing youth athletes.

Do not publish private or sensitive information about a minor or any other person. This includes home addresses, private telephone numbers, private email addresses, school schedules, travel or accommodation details, medical information, private communications, or other information that could reasonably compromise someone's privacy or safety.

Discussion of publicly available softball information such as team affiliation, roster information, game results, statistics, positions, tournament performances, and recruiting information may be permitted when shared appropriately and respectfully.

Content that exploits, sexualizes, threatens, harasses, humiliates, or endangers a minor is prohibited and may be removed immediately.

Tryouts, Recruiting and Player Opportunities

Users may post legitimate tryouts, player opportunities, team searches, coaching opportunities, tournaments, registrations, and similar softball-related opportunities in the appropriate areas of the Service.

Users are responsible for verifying the legitimacy, accuracy, eligibility requirements, costs, dates, affiliations, and other details of opportunities posted on the Service. The Softball Forum does not guarantee, verify, recommend, or endorse a team, coach, player, organization, tournament, recruiter, opportunity, or transaction merely because it appears on the Service.

When communicating about youth athletes, users should use appropriate safeguarding practices. Parents or guardians should be involved where appropriate in communications concerning minors.

Accuracy of Information

Information posted on the Service may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or based on personal opinion. Users should independently verify important information, including tournament details, association rules, eligibility requirements, schedules, team information, recruiting information, and registration requirements with the appropriate official organization.

Criticism, Opinions and Factual Allegations

The Softball Forum supports good-faith discussion and criticism concerning softball organizations, governing bodies, associations, leagues, teams, tournaments, coaches, officials, policies, rules, decisions, and other matters affecting the softball community. Content will not be removed merely because it is negative, critical, controversial, embarrassing, or disputed by the person or organization being discussed.

Users remain responsible for the statements they publish. When making factual claims, particularly serious allegations concerning identifiable individuals or organizations, users should have a reasonable factual basis for those claims. Opinions should be presented as opinions, and rumours, speculation, or information received from others should not knowingly be presented as established fact.

Users must not knowingly or recklessly publish materially false statements about another person or organization. Serious allegations involving criminal conduct, fraud, corruption, abuse, harassment, discrimination, or other significant misconduct should not be made without a reasonable factual basis.

Where appropriate, users may be asked to provide information supporting a serious factual allegation. The Softball Forum may also permit affected individuals or organizations to respond, provide additional context, or request a correction or review of disputed content.

Prohibited Content

You agree not to use the Service to submit, upload, distribute, or link to Content that is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, abusive, hateful, fraudulent, intentionally deceptive, obscene, spam-like, infringes intellectual property rights, violates another person's privacy, encourages unlawful activity, contains malicious software, or otherwise violates these Terms and Rules.

Do not impersonate another person, team, organization, administrator, moderator, or other official representative. Do not falsely represent an affiliation with a softball organization, governing body, team, tournament, or other entity.

Commercial Content, Advertising and Fundraising

Commercial advertising, sponsorship offers, fundraising, paid services, camps, clinics, products, and other promotional content may only be posted where permitted by the forum rules and in appropriate sections of the Service. We may remove repetitive, misleading, excessive, irrelevant, or unauthorized promotional content.

Copyright and Intellectual Property

Only submit Content that you have the right to share. Do not upload or reproduce copyrighted photographs, videos, articles, graphics, scouting materials, or other works without appropriate permission or another lawful basis for doing so.

You retain copyright in Content you create. By submitting Content to the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, reproduce, distribute, and otherwise use that Content as reasonably necessary to operate, promote, maintain, and provide the Service.

Moderation

We may remove, edit, move, close, merge, or otherwise moderate Content at any time when we believe doing so is appropriate for the operation, safety, organization, or integrity of the community.

We may warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms and Rules or otherwise disrupt the Service. Moderation decisions may take into account the circumstances, severity, frequency, and history of conduct involved.

Complaints and Content Review

Individuals and organizations may report Content they believe violates these Terms and Rules or applicable law. A complaint or demand for removal does not automatically require removal of the Content.

When challenging specific Content, complainants should identify the Content at issue, the particular statement or material being challenged, the basis for the complaint, and any information reasonably available to support the complaint.

We may review disputed Content, request additional information, seek clarification from the author or complainant, permit a response or correction, restrict access to Content, or take other action we consider appropriate in the circumstances.

We may preserve copies of Content, edits, reports, account information, communications, and moderation records where reasonably necessary for the operation of the Service, investigation of complaints, enforcement of these Terms and Rules, preservation of records, or compliance with legal obligations.

No Guarantee of Availability

We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Features may be added, changed, restricted, or removed as the Service develops.

Changes to These Terms

These Terms and Rules may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the Service after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms and Rules where permitted by applicable law.

If you do not agree with these Terms and Rules, please do not register for or use the Service.
